Reverend Isaac Stephen Amoah received his Theological and Ministerial training at the Trinity Theological Seminary at Legon, Ghana. After graduation and commissioning in 1988 he was subsequently ordained and received into the full connexion of the Methodist Church Ghana. He was then stationed at Mamfe-Akuapim and served as a circuit minister of the Mampong-Akuapem circuit. During his tenure, the Mamfe society enjoyed a tremendous spiritual, numerical and structural growth. Rev. Amoah assisted in the founding of the Mamfe Methodist High School, the first second cycle mission school of the church on the Akuapem Ridge of which he became its first headmaster. The school has since progressed steadily.
After a 7 years fruitful ministry in Ghana, Rev. Amoah was posted to Germany in 1995 by the Methodist church Ghana Conference to serve the German United Methodist Church (UMC) Conference. He was stationed in Hamburg as a Missionary Pastor of the UMC Ghanaian society in Hamburg which had been established about two years earlier. Rev. Amoah served the German Conference for 5 years. During his tenure, membership more than tripled in size to over 300 adult members and over 100 youth/children.
The Ghanaian society in Hamburg thus became the fastest growing congregation in the German United Methodist Conference. He also assisted in developing a second UMC Ghanaian congregation in Düsseldorf. After completing a successful missionary assignment to Germany in the year 2000, he was re-posted as a pioneer Missionary Pastor of the church in the Netherlands. Rev. Amoah assumed pastoral oversight of the Holland Mission circuit of the Methodist Church which was officially inaugurated in June 2000. The Mission circuit at the time of its inauguration comprised two societies located in Amsterdam and Den Haag established about 2-3 years earlier.
The work here in the Netherlands has been a pioneer missionary work since unlike Germany there is virtually no indigenous Methodist presence. Under Rev. Amoah's leadership however, the mission circuit has seen significant expansion. The Amsterdam society in particular has experienced remarkable spiritual and numerical growth with about 300 adult/youth membership and nearly 100 children. Two more new societies have been opened at the Port cities of Rotterdam and Antwerp-Belgium.
The Reverend Minister is gifted as a congregational revivalist who focuses on teaching ministry, leadership training, and congregational training in evangelism. He has the grace for marriage counselling and general pastoral counselling.
Reverend Amoah is blessed to be married to Mrs. Beatrice Amoah, an equally prayerful and devoted partner in ministry. Her great devotion to children's ministry contributed immensely towards the establishment of a vibrant Sunday school in Hamburg. She also initiated and facilitated the establishment of the Methodist Women's Fellowship in Germany and the Netherlands. They are blessed with two lovely children, Daniel and Deborah.
Rev. Amoah holds the Master of Theology (MTh.) degree from the International Reformed Theological Institute (IRTI) of the Free University of Amsterdam. He is currently proceeding with the Doctoral Studies in Theology researching on the foundation of the Ghanaian-initiated mainline Protestant churches in continental Europe.
